We woke up on Saturday (6/17) to a beautiful, clear morning at our Tunnel Mountain campsite in Banff, AB. We broke camp earlier than normal so that we could be at the Sulphur Mountain Banff Gondola ride early to avoid the crowds. I did not go on this excursion, only Laurie. Dangling from a high wire while traveling up the side of a mountain is not my idea of vacation fun. Laurie loved it, however, and got some incredible photos!
After the Gondola ride, we drove into town and luckily found a parking spot for the Earl. Banff is way too small for the number of tourists that arrive during the summer, especially on a weekend. I took Lucy for a walk through town, where she made many new friends.
In the afternoon, we got a good overview of Banff by taking the OpenTop Tour. This tourist attraction drove us around in a special vehicle with an open roof that allows for great views. A tour guide provides history and information about key sites around town and up to some overlooks. They even served us a drink!
After the tour, we headed north to Lake Louise. Unfortunately, the Lake Louise / Lake Moraine shuttle bus was sold out for the day, so we headed to our campsite at the heavily wooded Lake Louise campground. Lucy and I enjoyed a long walk along the beautiful glacial stream bordering the campground.
These Mountain View’s are incredible. That stream you and Lucy got to walk by is amazing too. Thank you for sharing your incredible adventures!
We are glad you and Laurie are getting to see and experience some of the most beautiful scenery Canada has to offer. Kelly and I love western Canada and we are going out to Vancouver and Kelowna, B.C. from July 7 to July 17, 2023.
Wow beautiful pictures! And I said you’d see Bigfoot! Lol
