After spending a couple weeks concerned that a medical issue may cancel our trip, we finally got the “all clear” for travel on Wednesday afternoon, June 7th. We finished packing right away and left on Friday morning (6/9).
The first leg of our trip took us to St. Paul, MN for a delightful weekend with our good friends, James and Mary Ann. Lucy had a blast playing with their two dogs, Liam and Pearl. We parked Earl (our RV) on the city street in front of their house, requiring some adjustments to our normal sleeping arrangements (no slide out means no queen sized Murphy bed). It was a bit cramped, but worked out ok.
Saturday morning (6/10) we headed to Minneapolis for an enjoyable brunch at a great spot with a unique menu. In the afternoon, James and I headed to the grocery store. Of course, we had to stop for a quick beer on the way. A sudden downpour forced us to stay for another beer. What luck!
In the evening, we were pleasantly surprised to be joined by our Godson Tony for dinner. He happens to live nearby and is another long-time family friend. It was a great evening. We had so much fun that we forgot to get a selfie with Tony!
After a nice breakfast prepared by James on Sunday morning (6/11), we headed north out of the Twin Cities, up I-94 to Fargo, ND. We set up camp at Lindenwood Campground, which is in a large park in downtown Fargo. We got a site right on the Red River. After an evening walk around the park with Lucy, we all were tired out. Tomorrow we drive across North Dakota and then cross into Canada on Tuesday.
We were happy to be the first stop on your 2023 summer Journey. We look forward to reading your blog & seeing the photos you share. Thanks for sharing a beautiful weekend with us in the Twin Cities!
This is so amazing. Kelly and I are so happy to accompany you on your trip. Make sure to say nice things about Canada in your posts. Safe travels and lots of FUN you two!!!
